Scanner Cam

This was taken earlier this summer by a friend of Jakes, with his 1.0 iphone. I suppose the iphone camera works on similar principles as a scanner camera. I’ve seen a few gallery with similar distortion happening as the camera lens( or the scanner lens) slides to capture the image, or at least that’s how I understand it. I’m sure that if you do enough digging around on the interWEB, a much more detailed description of this technology can be found.

Punching babies in the Face!

So it’s been a minute since I’ve had the opportunity to update, so it’s rather unfortunate that this post has to be one of negative nature.

I finally got around to takign my front wheel of my road bike into the shop where i had initially purchased it from, in order to get to the bottom of my leak isssue, which begun a month after i had made the purchase.

Here is my review of the L A Bicycles, 3219 S Hoover St Los Angeles, CA 900

as I wrote it in Yelp and also City Search.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!
You know that feeling you get that just makes you want to punch babies in the Face!, well replace the baby with this Shop owner and that’s pretty much it.
If you cycle Do NOT go here. From the get-go the lady at the counter(probably the owner) was a total bitch.
I had purchased a set of track wheels for my road bike about 6 months ago from them, and it was a ok deal, and at the time they seemed cool.

When i came back to figure out my leak problem, i wished i never bought the wheels from them to begin with.
Right off the bat i could tell that she wasn’t having a good morning, so i was as mellow and civil about my question as possible, before i could finish telling her what i was there for, she interrupted me with “Oh looks like you got hit by someone..” and throws me this attitude as if this is last thing she ever wanted ‘a repeat customer’.

Not only is the service terrible but it seemed like everyone at the shop was running at 100% total incompetency. After storming off to the back to explain in Spanish the problem to one of the coworkers, she begins to yell at me about how someone had drilled a hole in my wheel through the stem hole, in order to fit a different tube stem & , and why i didn’t come straight to them instead of going to my LOCAL shop, which is hell of alot closer then USC.If indeed that was the case, then the guys at my local shop were doing that in order to SMOOTH out the hole from any sharp surfaces, not making the hole larger: the leak was a problem a month after i bought the wheels to begin with).

NO solution to my problem, just attitude and blame ( love that customer service!). Even the hipsters at Orange 20 are more sociable.
After questioning her attitude, i quickly realized that the best solution for me was to just leave.
Who ever wrote that “it’s always friendly ” review, must have been smoking so much crack when they walked into that shop that even peices of poo seemed to be delightful.– F that. Do yourself a favor and headover to the Bicycle kitchen, where people don’t treat you like poop.

Large Scale

So I’ve been researching a bit of calligraphy, focusing on blackletter brush techniques . Lately I’ve been very interested in large scale lettering, and am trying to practice some letter forms in the pursuit of a sort of mixed style that i can adapt into my own through lot’s of studies, and proceed with them on a larger scale. Below is the first large scale study ,( about 9 feet by 5), although the Letter forms were not real blackletter forms, this was merely a study of scale and tools. It took me a while to figure out the perfect brush , in order to produce those great looking sharp edges. The rest of those pieces are more studies on a smaller scale done at home on butcher paper, strictly to get comfortable with the letter forms. More large scale lettering soon to come.

Current TV new Reel

It has been awhile since I’ve posted anything, so I am going to start it off with a little supply of graphic awesomeness. This is the new Current TV Motion real.

If you notice at about 1:10 ELEPHANTPILOT™ makes a bit of a debut, and infiltrates Current’s internal graphics for the first time.

Dirty Hollywood

picture-1.png

just experienced the epidomy of living in Hollywood. If anyone not from Los Angeles ever asks you what Hollywood is really like, well this experience could easily be the most accurate example.

On my bike home from work, which usually involves me riding down Fountain Ave. to Bronson, where there is a large and very old middle school, on the corner, i make my turn ( with out coming to a complete stop at the stop sign), & noticed the newly set up Movie set at the school, which is scheduled to be there for about a week. I also notice about 20 “shady” looking neighborhood men and women, lined up against the fence of a very well known neighborhood Tranny-whore-house, soroiunded by an entourage of LA’s finest. I quickly put my bike away and grab Frankie ( perfect cover for a neighborhood snoop walk), and w make our way towards the movie set. The movie set in fact turns out to be just that, however the 20 shady looking characters were in fact Trany/tweeker/whores, who were getting raided. As I stood there with the rest of the PA’s on the set, I couldt help to think how ironic this whole situation was. The Huge,Tattooed Sleeved PA dudes, thought it was rather amusing as well, and kept pointing out the different Tranys and their ridiculous attire.

Sorry no in action pics, forgot my camera.

5 String Classic

My old buddy Dan came through the other day, and recorded some of his new music. Dan is leaving for Australia in a few days , where he is visiting another one of our close friends, who now resides there. I shipped Dan of with some EP™ shwag, so hopefully I’ ll get a few pics back of Nick sporting the LOve EP shirt down under.
